Ceremony Convener & Cultural Advisor

Our ceremony convener, Mokopuna Rapaere Karu Kamira (Moko Kamira) offers support, cultural advice and spiritual guidance to Hawaiki families who are dealing with the loss of a loved one.  Moko Kamira is a Maori elder from the sacred house of Ngapuhi in Aotearoa (New Zealand).  He is a fluent native Maori speaker and is an active member of the Polynesian Community.  After close consultation with family it is Moko Kamira who carefully arranges the funeral ceremony.  Family members find much comfort and support from Moko Kamira's caring approach and deep understanding of Hawaiki culture, sensitivities and customs.

Moko Kamira sees his role at Pacific Family Funerals as providing a link between the western world and the Hawaiki nations - filling the gaps where there is no community support and maintaining the cultural integrity and spiritual traditions of the Pacific Island people outside of their homelands.
