With the world focus on saving energy and looking for ways to improve our greenhouse emissions, eco friendly funerals have gathered momentum in Australia. At this present time Lismore N.S.W and Hobart Tasmania have the only “green” or bushland cemeteries in our region. After conducting such funerals and the public enquiries that followed, A Gentle Touch Funerals investigated all aspects of eco friendly funerals. This of course included the possible establishment of a “green” cemetery in our own area of the Gold Coast.
We are working closely with the Gold Coast City Council to study the prospect of setting aside such an area within the Mudgeeraba cemetery. At this stage “ green” burials are permitted in the Mudgeeraba general cemetery however once the new area is in place all of these funerals will be confined to this area.
Our thorough investigations into eco friendly coffins have revealed a suitable range of cardboard coffins which we have on offer for cremation or burials with no harm whatsoever to the environment.
