When a Death Occurs

When a Death Occurs:

When a death occurs we all go through different emotions. The following guide lines explain things that need to be considered.

At a Hospital or Nursing home:

The hospital or nursing home will arrange the correct forms for the Funeral Director and in the case of the hospital they may need your permission for an autopsy to be carried out. In the nursing home staff will contact the family so that they have time to say a last good bye before contacting the Funeral Director.

At Home:

If the person who has died was being treated by a doctor for the previous 3 months, the doctor will issue a full death certificate. However if the person was not seeking treatment or death was accidental then the police will need to be notified. After this has been done the coroner will decide if an autopsy is needed, before a certificate can be issued.
